Match Reports

v Bilton Grange (6.5.09) - won by 10 wickets

The Colts won the toss and put Bilton into bat first.  Bilton scored 83 for 6 in their allotted 25 overs of which 30 were extras.  Ben Keeping and Sam Clarke both had 2 wickets apiece but the most disappointing aspect of the game was the number of wides and no balls that our bowlers sent down.  William Stride and Sam Clarke knocked off the runs with 12 overs to spare, William finishing 45 not out and Sam 24 not out.  Both batted well, however, the highlight was their running between the wickets, which was excellent. - PM

v Akeley Wood (13.5.09) - lost by 10 wickets

The Colts lost the toss and were put into bat first.  Runs were hard to come by throughout the Colts innings and credit must go to the Akeley Wood bowlers for the way they performed.  The Colts managed to score 115 for the loss of 2 wickets in their 25 overs.  Top scorer was William Stride who finished  58 not out.  Akeley Wood knocked off the runs without losing a wicket in the 24th over.  The difference between the two sides was in the respective bowling departments, with the Colts being a clear second best on the day. - PM

v Winchester House (16.5.09) - lost by 37 runs

Winchester House won the toss and elected to bat first.  Winchester House compiled 144 for 4 declared in 38 overs with one of their batsman dominating the proceedings scoring 81 not out.  All the Colts bowlers stuck to their task manfully especially the four who had to contend with a very strong wind.  When it came to the Colts turn to bat they came up against a very good leg spinner who took 6 wickets and bowled unchanged from one end.  Sam Clarke scored an excellent 36 with Edward Felton and William Stride chipping in with 13 and 16 respectively.  The Colts were finally bowled out for 107 in the 26th over. - PM

v Bedford (20.5.09) - won by 65 runs

The Colts lost the toss and were put into bat first. The Colts made a superb 181 for 6 in their allotted 25 overs, easily the best performance with the bat to date.  William Stride top scored with an excellent 58 but was ably supported by James Clifton 22, Edward Felton 21, Sebastian Graham and Joshua Cara who were undefeated on 25 and 10 respectively.  Bedford were then restricted to 116 for 7 in their 25 overs with Willian Stride taking 4 for 21 and Max Bowles 2 for 18.  All the bowlers played their part in this victory, backed up by some very good fielding. - PM

v Witham Hall (6.6.09) - won by 8 wickets

Witham won the toss and elected to bat first. Witham scored 111 for 6 in their allotted 25 overs with Joshua Cara taking 2 for 7 and there was a wicket each for Sam Clarke, Oliver Mortimer, William Stride and Max Bowles.  Unfortunately there were 29 extras which took the edge off a very good performance in the field by the Colts.  Edward Felton led the way with the batting scoring an excellent 61 not out, ably supported by James Clifton with 17 and William Stride 14 not out.  The Colts reached their target with 4 overs to spare for the loss of just 2 wickets. - PM

v Bedford Modern (20.6.09) - won by 8 wickets

Bedford Modern elected to bat first and in their allotted 20 overs scored 69 for 9.  There was a wicket each for Sam Clarke, Ben Keeping, William Sride and Joshua Cara, Edward Felton finished with 5 for 8 in a remarkable spell of bowling and it was backed up by some excellent ground fielding, rounding off a very professional performance by the Colts in the field. Having lost two quick wickets, William Stride joined Edward Felton to see the Colts home with 9 overs to spare.  William finishing 27 not out and Edward 30 not out. - PM

v Wellingborough (1.7.09) - lost by 4 wickets

The Colts lost the toss and were put into bat first.  The Colts scored 92 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs but they struggled to get runs quickly due to some tight bowling and good fielding by the opposition.  William Stride scored an excellent 53 not out and was ably supported by James Smith with 17.  Unfortunately the Colts fielding and bowling let them down and Wellingborogh won by 4 wickets that was despite the valiant efforts of William Stride and Edward Felton who each took 2 for 13 in their 4 overs. - PM
