Match Reports
vs Akeley Wood 5/5/10 Won by 85 runs
After losing the toss and being sent into bat, we got off to a shaky start losing two wickets in the first two balls of the game. It was then that Adam Wright got things going with an unbeaten 77 which included 15 fours. This gave us the respectable total of 170 for 4 in 25 overs. Our bowlers then restricted Akeley Wood to 85 for 5 in their 25 overs. Our four frontline bowlers all took a wicket with Henry Pickering taking two wickets. A great start! CC
vs Bilton Grange 12/5/10 Won by 1 wicket
Two games and two wins. This game was, however, far too close for comfort. Again, Adam Wright got us off to a blistering start, hitting four 4's in his 20 runs. He was helped along by Edward Parton who played some impressive shots. Our middle-order batsmen collapsed, as did our run rate. Kieran Lorimer steadied our battling with the last two batsmen getting the six runs needed to win the game. Man of the Match was Keir Mulcahey for his four great catches! CC
vs Winchester House 15/5/10 Lost by 76 runs
For our third game, the format changed a bit and we played a game of pairs. In our team we have some excellent bowlers and exceptional batsmen; in this format of the game, we where unable to focus on both these areas. The positives were that everyone got a chance to bowl and bat, thereby practising in these areas where they normally would not get a chance. The team had a great time and the team spirit was excellent! Unfortunately, Winchester House were stronger than we were in the batting department, making 351 runs as opposed to our 275. A lot can be taken from this match in preparation for our game against Maidwell. CC
vs Bedford Prep 19/5/10 Lost by 7 wickets
We knew that this game was going to be a tough one for us. We were sent in to bat first and posted a respectable total of 82 for 9. Bedford Prep reached our total with 10 overs to spare. An area we are going to have to work on is our fielding. We need to stop the ball first time and then get it in quickly. Our batsmen also need to try get a few more boundaries which will enable us to post higher totals. With our positive team spirit I am sure we will correct the areas we need to. CC
vs Maidwell Hall 22/5/10 Lost by 10 wickets
Sent in first to bat, we immediately found the going tougher than in any other game we had played. Their bowling was accurate and quick. We started off slowly but steadily. However, once we lost our first wicket, the rest seemed to follow. Unfortunately, we found ourselves all out for 36 runs. This total was always going to be tough to defend, but the boys must be given credit for their alertness in the field and the effort they made to defend the total. Maidwell Hall reached the total after 5 overs. A tough game for us but one in which the team can hold their heads up high. CC
