Match Reports

v Bilton Grange - Lost by 9 wickets

Batting first Spratton set the pace scoring 113 for 2 from 25 overs, with D. Leng 31, F. Telfer 21 and A. Asif and H. Carpenter 11 each. Although a good total, too many singles and extra runs were missed out, and not enough urgency was shown in the last 10 overs to maximize the score. In reply Bilton were solid, and the Spratton bowling was not accurate or consistent enough to take enough wickets, and they managed to get the toal with 2 overs to spare and only 1 wicket down. A promising start, but we will need to improve the scoring rate and bowling accuracy for the next game. P. Hibberson

v Trent - Won by 75 runs

Spratton's batting was reasonable, using the short boundary to good effect, scoring all the runs in the innings. The fielding was much better and the bowling was straighter, resulting in the boys taking all the wickets. Spratton made a solid 188 with Fred making an excellent 52 not out, Charles getting 24 and Zach 22. Trent were bowled out for 113 with again Fred leading the attack with figures of 4 for 19. P. Hibberson

v Oakham - Won by 6 runs

Spratton batting was reasonable, good running between the wickets by Myles and Orla. Fielding was very good by some, Harry, Max and Shay. However, Myles was brilliant saving at leaste 20-30 runs behind square. Charlie 20, Orla 21 scored some valuable runs. This team continued to progress. P. Hibberson

v Winchester house - Won by 1 run

Spratton made 104 for 9, the batting collapsed, but was held together at the end by Jake, Ben and Max whom accumulated 40 runs with positive batting and good running between the wickets. Fielding was very good and enthusiastic and some good catches taken, one in particular by Tom. P. Hibberson

v Maidwell Hall - Lost by 89 runs

Against a strong Maidwell side, they managed to score 150 / 5 with Coupland, Boyd, Cox and Pugh picking up a wicket each. However, 5 drop catches did not help restrict the runs. Spratton were bowled out for 61 with Shay Boyd scoring 21 runs. Duncan's field placing was good, however, catches do win matches. P. Hibberson

v Witham Hall - Lost by 29 runs

A closely fought match, saw Witham get the edge with a narrow victory. Spratton managed to hold Witham to 128 / 8, with Charlie Harte claiming 6 for 21, quite superb. Spratton ended slightly short, with Ole Pugh making an aggressive 54 not out. P. Hibberson

v Kimbolton - Lost by 9 wicket

Playing against some strong, big boys, Spratton did find the game quite challenging. Zach Coupland managed to bat under pressure to stay in for 10 overs. Our field placing was good, however, we simply must hold onto our catches. Dominic Peck bowled some reasonable overs, once again, but the bowlers need to contribute as a team. P. Hibberson
