Reception Visit to Ashby Farm (4.10.11)
The two Reception classes visited Ashby St Ledgers Farm over two consecutive days last week to learn about the story of food and its journey from farm to fork.
Wearing track suits, the excited youngsters boarded the coach and looked forward to our arrival at the farm. First they watched a slide show and talk about the cereals grown on the farm. After “scrubbing up” the children had great fun making dough with flour and pizzas and choosing their own toppings.
In the sunny weather, the children saw the grains stores and looked at the tractors and a combine harvester. Toy tractor races were the highlights of the day followed by a delicious picnic.
Happy children boarded the coach home with pizza in hand and the memories of a wonderful day.
